Babies wake up early…

Gram needs coffee….

Last night was SLUMBER PARTY night! Hardly any slumbering happened…and then at 5 Peanut pronounced it TIME TO GET UP…

OY.

So what do you feed a toddler for supper on Slumber Party night when the point is just to have fun?? S’ghetti and chocolate poke cake (you know, the one where you poke holes in the warm cake and then pour pudding over it? Super ooey gooey!)….

Cuz who can resist s’ghetti covered toddler faces? Not me!

Starts like this…

Add a lot of this...

Add a lot of this…

And you get THIS!

And you get THIS!

And then everybody's giggling!

And then everybody’s giggling!

Lather, rinse, repeat with Poke cake!

Lather, rinse, repeat with Poke cake!

And then you spend approximately 1.5 hours in the tubs, add more bubbles as needed! Remove when chubby hands and feet are all pruny!

A few days ago, Peanut finally decided to say my name…like for real!

Hi, my name is Nammy!

It’s super precious to hear her call to me by name, even at midnight, 1:30, and 2:30 etc when she has climbed off the couch and is standing beside my bed!

I don’t mind, snuggles ensue…

But geez I’m sleepy!

🙂

9 days…

I call this week “The time of getting all the shit done I put off all summer before  I leave”…

I’m under no illusions that it’s all gonna get done….

I’m also under no illusions that everything I planned to take with me will fit into my suitcase….

But I’m sure as hell gonna try!!

🙂

Girl after my own heart…

My family giggles/rolls their eyes at me whenever we go on a hike because I pick up rocks and put them in my pockets….they think I’m quirky and cute…

Went for a stroll around the neighborhood with Peanut this morning….

She sang and giggled as she pushed her toy down the sidewalk…We had a few discussions about how she can’t pick flowers out of EVERYBODY’S yard, only Gram’s….We heard thunder, so we headed back home to have our morning snack. After I sliced her strawberries I turned to put her in her highchair and found this on my ottoman:

It made me laugh out loud! She was doing more in those flowerbeds than trying to pick flowers!

She really IS my Granddaughter… 🙂

While she napped, I worked on my last project for the big trip…

I sprinkled some lavender buds in between the layers before I quilted them together in hopes that the combination of scent and light blocking will allow me to sleep on the plane(S)…

I leave 2 weeks from today…

Summer in America…

It’s the simple pleasures that define us…

For me, nothing says Summer like the smell of ripe peaches…

Amateur fireworks in an ordinary neighborhood

And nothing is more American than fireworks on Independence Day…Yes, they’re annoying when they’re exploding at midnight in the yard next door. Yes, they scare the dogs. And yes, I’ve done my share of bitching about them. Love them or hate them they are innately American…

That’s how I spent July 4th; hot dogs blackened to perfection on the grill, homemade peach ice cream and watching neighborhood fireworks displays from the tailgate of the ’54 with my Hubs. Just us…no party this year.

It was Heaven….

I leave for Guam in less than 3 weeks…it’s a bittersweet countdown…
